Happy Trails

Here we are, Election Day + 1 and the count is in (but not official yet); I received 16.4% of the vote and came in 2nd. I was hoping I would earn a few more votes but a political pro that I know told me that, for a person running his very first campaign- and especially an unconventional campaign- scoring in double digits is a great success.

Election Day

Here it is Tuesday June 3rd and we're getting ready to vote. Its difficult to believe that its been 5 months since I began my first ever run at political office.

The Day Before

OK. Here we are after a few interesting months. We'll see what Tuesday's election will bring.

Yesterday's Padres Lumberjack Pancake Breakfast was a fun event. Just like every year, you get to visit with friends and family members you haven't seen in a while. I always enjoy talking with members of my old Boy Scout Troop 599 and hanging out with my old high school buddy Kirk Mathew, in his wide, authentic mountain man straw hat who is "Mr. Coffee" every year at the breakfast; truly a character and a great guy.

Ecosystem-Based Management

The May 2008 issue of the Surfrider Foundation's publication, "Making Waves", has solid info regarding how we can positively maintain our water resources while preserving and enhancing our land and ocean environments: http://www.surfrider.org/makingwaves_0508.asp

Power from the Ocean

My campaign is all about finding actual solutions to make our lives better while preserving and enhancing our bioregion. Coming up with ideas is my forte.
Here is an article regarding harnessing our ocean's tides and waves to create power. The more options we have, the better:

Corralitos Padres Breakfast Next Sunday June 1

Never a group to let a little fire keep them down, the Corralitos Padres have rescheduled their Lumberjack Breakfast for next Sunday June 1st. This is the 49th annual breakfast with all proceeds going to Corralitos area youth groups including my Boy Scout Troop 599. Great food and even greater people - its like a big 'ol homecoming. Hope to see you there - and wear your campaign button.

FINAL WEEK'S STRATEGY

We're in the home stretch and I need your help.

'Change' has been the one constant theme I've heard throughout the past few months. And I've been operating with the statement......'You do the same thing the same way you get the same results'..... as my mantra. As other candidates 'greenwash' themselves, using eco-friendly buzz words in their literature, they have flooded our county with junk mail, plastic bag signs and door hangers; I've purposely not done that. I've also not used the voter rolls to spam people with unsolicited phone calls and email.

Still Time to Help Out

Friends of Dan Young is still seeking donations up to $250 per adult to help defray costs of brochures, stickers and signs. We're close to breaking even but a little extra push is needed.
If you can spare a few dollars it would be appreciated. See our 'Donations' page for details.
